Bead blasting This is used for cleaning aluminium and some other non-ferrous metals. The process leaves a slightly duller finish to some grades of aluminium/metals than vapour blasting.

Soda Blasting. Soda blasting leaves little or no residue and as the soda is water-soluble it can be washed out of carburettors. Soda blasting is suitable in the classic restorer market. Soda will not etch glass and will not warp or remove metal work. Surface will be left smooth. Soda also leaves a rust inhibitor behind for up to six weeks
Vapour Blasting

The key to vapour blasting is that the finish is produced through flow of water borne abrasive, giving a finer finish due to the flushing action of the water. No media is impregnated into the component, nor is there any dust created by the break-up of media, unlike dry grit blasting (this does not apply to Bead blasting) where the finish is produced by sheer force and sharpness of media and impact.

Typical Applications

Degreasing / surface finishing of components, reconditioning and maintenance.

Cleaning of dies & moulds

Surface preparation prior to bonding, re-painting or re-coating

Satin finishing of stainless steels & other special materials

Cleaning of PCB's & electrical connectors

Removal of small burrs from manufactured components

Depending on the size of the part to be blasted we can remove paint, oil/grease and carbon in soak tanks. The alternative is for the customer to pre-clean prior to us carrying out the blasting process.

Anything Goes Racing specialise in classic motorcycle/ car parts but also blast any other motorcycle, car and machine parts that need to be painted or have other surface finishing. Call for a chat about the work to be done or just to find out what our services are. Surface affects from the blasting process are:

Dry blasting is more abrasive than vapour blasting as this is used with dry media like aluminium oxide or steel grit. Various grades of these media can be used to give different types of finish on all metals.

We do not remove dirt, grease, paint, heavy rust and scale, carbon & similar deposits within our Bead or Soda Blasting system.  We can clean items prior to blasting as a separate service.
Bead and shot-blasted finishes produced by the impact of a hard, inert medium onto the steel surface result in non-directional, uniform matt surfaces with low reflectivity.

These finishes have both aesthetic appeal and can enhance the surface properties of stainless steels. They produce similar finishes to those obtained by acid etching. The texture of the blasted surfaces vary with the blast media, which include glass, ceramic or lead bead, silicon carbide, aluminium oxide, stainless steel shot or ground quartz. These finishing methods can be used in the specialist finishing shop or under site conditions ie either before or after fabrication.

For architectural applications steel shot or glass bead peened finishes are a good choice for getting the a good combination of corrosion resistance from a non-directional surface 'sheen' finish
